A satin and lace gown from Mon Amie Bridal Salon came to us with heavy staining across the train. Here is how we removed the stains and preserved the gown and veil in an acid-free keepsake box.

The Gown and the Damage

This gown came from Mon Amie Bridal Salon in Costa Mesa, a satin silhouette with floral lace appliqué and a row of delicate covered buttons down the back. The wedding left its mark. Large gray and brown stains ran across the satin train, and more staining had worked into the fabric right along the lace edge and buttons. Satin shows everything, so even lighter marks stood out clearly against the ivory.

Why Stained Satin Is Unforgiving

Satin's smooth, light-reflecting weave is what makes it beautiful, and also what makes it hard to clean. Water rings, rubbed spots, and uneven treatment show up instantly on a surface this reflective. The stains also sat next to lace appliqué and fabric-covered buttons that cannot take the same treatment as the plain satin. Each area has to be worked separately, with the transition zones blended so no cleaning lines appear where the fabrics meet.

Our Process for This Gown

We mapped every stain first, then treated the train section by section with fabric-specific solutions that lift soil without leaving rings or dulling the satin's sheen. The lace appliqué and covered buttons were cleaned separately with a gentler hand. Once every mark was out, the gown was finished, folded in acid-free tissue with the bodice supported, and sealed in a Bridal Keepsafe preservation box with a display window. The Result
