How Alterations Work
No fitting appointment. No trips to a tailor shop. Tell us the fit you want in whichever way is easiest for you, and we handle the rest, door to door.
Three Easy Ways to Tell Us Your Fit
Pick whichever feels most natural. All three give our tailor exactly what they need to get it right the first time.

1. Hand Us a Garment to Copy
The easiest method, no measuring required
Have a favorite pair of jeans that's exactly the right length? A pair of pants with the perfect waist? A jacket whose sleeves hit just right? Include it with your order at pickup and tell us which garment to match. Our tailor measures the fit you already love and copies it onto the new piece. The sample garment comes back with your order, untouched.
- Favorite jeans for pant length
- Best-fitting pants for the waist
- A jacket with the right sleeve length

2. Pin It or Mark It
Show us exactly where you want it
Fold the hem up to the length you want and hold it with a safety pin, or cuff the pants where they should end. A clip, a piece of tape, or a chalk line works too. Try the garment on at home, set the length in front of your own mirror, and our tailor takes it from there. Pin just one leg or one sleeve, and we will match the other side precisely.
- Safety pin at the new hem
- Cuff folded to the right length
- Chalk or tape line where it should end

3. Give Us the Numbers
For anyone who knows their measurements
If you know your inseam, just tell us. A note that says take 2 inches off, hem to a 30 inch inseam, or shorten sleeves by 1 inch is all our tailor needs. Write it on a note in the bag, or add it to the order comments when you schedule your pickup online. If anything in the note is unclear, we call you before any cutting begins.
- Hem to a 30 inch inseam
- Take 2 inches off the length
- Shorten sleeves by 1 inch

Alterations Questions, Answered
Do I need an in-person fitting for alterations?
No. Most storefront tailors require a fitting appointment, but Baroni Cleaners works from the fit reference you provide: a sample garment to copy, a pinned or marked hem, or written measurements. Our driver picks everything up at your door and our tailor calls you if anything needs clarifying before work begins.
Can I just give you a favorite garment to copy the fit from?
Yes, and it is the method we recommend most. Include a favorite pair of jeans, pants, or a jacket with your order and tell us to match its length, waist, or sleeve length. The sample garment is only measured, never altered, and it comes back with your order.
How should I pin a hem for alterations?
Try the garment on, fold the hem up to where you want it to end, and hold the fold with one or two safety pins. Pinning one leg or one sleeve is enough, since our tailor matches the other side exactly. A cuff, a clip, or a chalk line works the same way.
What if I am not sure how much to take off?
Send the garment with your best guess noted, or call us at (949) 316-4276 and we will talk it through. Our tailor confirms the plan and the price with you before any cutting begins, and if a note is ambiguous we always call rather than guess.
How much do alterations cost with pickup and delivery?
Hemming starts at $12 and typically runs up to $20. Waist adjustments run $15 to $30, sleeve shortening $15 to $25 on shirts and $30 to $50 on suit jackets, and taking in a jacket or dress runs $25 to $60. Pickup and delivery are free across Irvine, Newport Beach, Tustin, Santa Ana, and Costa Mesa with a $20 order minimum.
